BLM offering salvage timber sale in Butte County

REDDING, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management is offering for sale approximately 1,859.4 MBF (thousand board feet) of merchantable saw timber in the Camp Fire Salvage on public lands in Butte County.

The timber is on public land parcels off Ponderosa Way and Compton Drive, and on private parcels that have BLM timber rights off Coutolenc Road and Merchants Bar Road, all near the community of Paradise.  The minimum bid is $18,045.20.

Bids must be submitted to the BLM Redding Field Office, 6640 Lockheed Dr, Redding, CA 96002 by May 4, 2020 at 12 p.m.  Because the field office is closed during the COVID-19 shelter in place order, bids should be submitted by mail or commercial parcel service.

Before submitting bids, interested parties can contact Leana Weissberg, (530) 224-2122, LWeissberg@blm.gov for information on the timber, conditions of the sale and appraised prices per species.

Timber offered in the sale is restricted from export from the United States in the form of unprocessed timber.

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. In fiscal year 2018, the diverse activities authorized on BLM-managed lands generated $105 billion in economic output across the country. This economic activity supported 471,000 jobs and contributed substantial revenue to the U.S. Treasury and state governments, mostly through royalties on minerals.
