Free Green Waste Disposal for Butte County Residents in the Wildland Urban Interface

As wildfire season approaches, managing vegetation around your home is more important than ever. If you live in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) in Butte County, you have an excellent opportunity to safely and responsibly dispose of green waste for free this summer.

What is the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI)?

The WUI refers to areas where homes and communities meet or intermingle with wildland vegetation. Proper vegetation management in these zones is critical for reducing wildfire risk and protecting lives and property.

Free Green Waste Disposal Dates & Location

Butte County is offering free green waste drop-off on select dates this summer at the Neal Road Recycling & Waste Facility. This program is designed to help residents dispose of hazardous vegetation properly and reduce wildfire fuel loads.

Drop-off Details:

  • Dates:

    • June: 7, 11, 15, 28

    • July: 2, 6, 18, 21, 31

    • August: 3, 16, 19, 29

  • Time: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Important Reminders:

  • Bring valid identification to verify residency.

  • Confirm your address is within the Wildland Urban Interface by checking the WUI parcel map at Butte County GIS Maps (select “WUI Parcel Lookup”).
