Program Notice: Butte County Fire Safe Council Adopts No-Cost Gravel Grant Program from Rebuild Paradise Foundation
BCFSC has adopted the No-Cost Gravel Grant Program, a community assistance initiative previously operated by the Rebuild Paradise Foundation that helps eligible residents place gravel in the first 5 feet of qualifying homes to support defensible space and wildfire preparedness.

The Butte County Fire Safe Council (BCFSC) is pleased to announce the adoption of the No-Cost Gravel Grant Program, a community assistance initiative previously operated by the Rebuild Paradise Foundation. The program helps eligible residents improve defensible space and support wildfire preparedness efforts through the placement of gravel on the first 5 feet of qualifying homes.
The adoption of the program was recently approved by the BCFSC Board of Directors and represents another step forward in the organization's continued commitment to supporting wildfire recovery, long-term community resilience, and safety throughout Butte County.
Historically, the No-Cost Gravel Grant Program has been funded entirely through private donations, and the BCFSC will now begin pursuing additional funding opportunities and partnerships to support the program's long-term continuation and expansion.
While the BCFSC is excited to continue this important community resource, the organization will require a transition and development period to incorporate the program into BCFSC operations, establish internal procedures, evaluate long-term program capacity, and secure sustainable funding sources.
During this transition, existing applicants previously approved through the Rebuild Paradise Foundation program will continue to receive services through funding provided by Rebuild Paradise Foundation. Approved applicants can expect communication from the BCFSC regarding next steps by the end of June 2026.
"The No-Cost Gravel Grant Program has provided meaningful assistance to residents working to recover, improve defensible space, and wildfire preparedness on their properties. We are grateful to the Rebuild Paradise Foundation for the opportunity to continue this work. As we move through this adoption process, our goal is to thoughtfully continue and grow a sustainable program that can continue serving communities throughout Butte County into the future."
Additional information regarding program availability, eligibility requirements, and future application opportunities will be announced by the BCFSC as the program is further developed.
